A Dive into Herbal Healing
My journey of rediscovery and reconnection
Once a cog in the corporate machine, I found myself longing for something more—something real, rooted in nature, and in service to my community. My path led me away from fluorescent lights and endless meetings to the vibrant, living world of herbs, where I discovered the power of plants to nourish, heal, and restore balance.
The English Herbal Apothecary is more than just a place to purchase handcrafted herbal creations; it’s a space dedicated to education, empowerment, and reconnecting with the natural world. Here, you’ll find thoughtfully crafted herbal remedies, in-depth knowledge about herbs and their benefits, and stories from my own journey as I embrace the wisdom of the earth.
My purpose is simple: to support my local community and beyond by providing natural solutions, fostering a deeper understanding of plant medicine, and celebrating the gifts Mother Earth so generously offers. Whether you’re here to explore, learn, or find the perfect herbal blend, I invite you to join me on this journey back to nature.

My name is Laura. I am the founder and owner of The English Herbal Apothecary (EHA). I am a mother, a wife, a gardener, a nature enthusiast and an herbalist. I have 3 gorgeous children, a caring husband and a wonderful community in the Greater Seattle Area that have all enabled and supported me in my herbal journey of discovery. I moved to the USA nearly 10 years ago from England, with my husband, (hence the 'English' in the brand name!) and have called the PNW home since 2019.
I have always been interested in folk remedies, 'old wives' tales', natural approaches and generally looking to nature and natural things for support before reaching for pharmaceuticals. My mother is a phenomenal cook and instilled in me a sense of using everything nature has to offer to flavor our food, and support our own health. She is a grandchild of World War 2 Belgian immigrants who knew that when the first signs of spring appeared the windows would be opened throughout the house to 'air' it, and that when a child had sore skin the first approach was a sitz bath. Eucalyptus oil for upper respiratory support in the winter, bone broth to help stave off colds and flu, and many other simple, effective approaches to living that integrate herbs and gentle methods to help us thrive. My father is a typical Englishman - we would walk miles with him daily in rain or shine and experience a whole array of weather variations. He is also an avid gardener, and is credited with sowing the seeds of my love of plants and horticulture.

The products I offer at The English Herbal Apothecary are all herb based, with no preservatives or additives. My primary focus is supporting and nurturing my local community so they are made in small batches, based on what I have to hand, and may not be as 'shelf stable' as other products in stores loaded with chemicals to ensure they are viable for years. I source my products locally where possible - and grow many of my own herbs used in my products - and use organic products when I cannot. My neighbors and friends are great supporters in helping me with their given talents in farming, gardening, apiary and other areas working in tandem with the Earth.
I would also like to say that I am a strong believer in allopathic medicine; it certainly has it's place alongside natural options, and my products are in no way meant to replace pharmaceutical methods where they are needed. Herbs are a part of life, and our historical spirit, but they also take time and are usually long term options and support. Taking one dose of ashwagandha root in warm milk before bed will not suddenly cure you of insomnia, but regular use combined with other adaptogenic and tonifying herbs, and looking inward to understand the root cause for sleep issues is what will help someone regulate themselves. My aim is to support people to become more aware and in tune with their bodies and minds, and use nature's bounty as others have for millenia before us to live a better, healthier, happier life. Health starts at home, I truly believe that, and I hope you will find this site useful and intriguing enough to start looking into your wellness journey with a serious eye.
Thank you for being here. I'm so happy you could join me.
